Children’s Dentistry

Our team of highly qualified and compassionate dentists love seeing children. All of our dentists have their own children and are very understanding of both the parents and children’s needs. At Kingston Smiles we believe in educating our patients on the importance of oral health from a young age. We encourage all our patients to bring their children to an appointment and let them see how mummy or daddy get their teeth checked and cleaned by the dentist.

We provide services for eligible participants of the child dental benefit scheme (please note there may be an out of pocket fee).

When your child visits our practice we endeavour to make it a friendly, calm and welcoming environment. We work with you and your child to overcome the initial fears and anxieties of visiting the dentist. Initially, your child may like to sit on mum or dad’s lap on the chair. Eventually we work with you and your child to make them excited for each dental visit.

We have kids activity packs and prizes for our “excellent brushers” to encourage them to continue to brush well every day and eat healthy.

Your child’s first dental visit can take place any time after their first tooth appears. Generally we recommend from around age 3 as compliance and understanding is usually better at this age. However any age is appropriate if you have any concerns or issues.

We provide a range of dental services for children including check ups, cleans, fillings, extractions, mouthguards and fissure seals. Fissure seals are preventative seals placed on back teeth to prevent decay in the adult teeth when they first erupt.
